Booking Terms and Conditions
Welcome to The Adventure Co. Please read these terms and conditions carefully before booking any of our tours, trips or events.
Booking and Payment
- All bookings must be paid in full at the time of reservation.
- Group payments require a 75% deposit at the time of reservation and the balance to be paid 30 days before the tour date.
- 100% of the total amount is required for all orders placed less than 30 days prior to the event date.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation policy
- 1 – 29 days prior to arrival – 10% of the total rental fee will be refunded
- 30 + days prior to arrival – 90% of the total rental fee will be refunded
- In the event of a Covid-related travel restriction, we are happy to offer our clients one postponement for their booking to a new date.
- Cancellation will need to be in writing.
Safety and Conduct
- All participants must follow the safety guidelines provided by the guides.
- The Adventure Co. (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to terminate participation for misconduct or unsafe behavior.
Liability
- The Adventure Co. (Pty) Ltd is not liable for any injuries or accidents that occur during the tours.
- Participants are responsible for their own travel insurance.
Motorcycle, Gear & Accessories Rental – Additional Terms and Conditions
These terms apply specifically to the rental of motorcycles, riding gear, and accessories from The Adventure Co. (Pty) Ltd, whether booked directly or via partner suppliers.
General Rental Conditions
All rentals are subject to availability, confirmation, and acceptance of these terms. By proceeding with a booking, the renter agrees to comply with all rental requirements, safety guidelines, and operating instructions provided.
The Adventure Co. reserves the right to refuse rental or terminate any rental agreement at its discretion if safety, compliance, or legal requirements are not met.
Rider Requirements
To rent a motorcycle, the rider must:
- Be over the age of 21 years old.
- Hold a valid motorcycle driver’s license appropriate to the engine capacity of the rented motorcycle.
- Present a valid passport or South African ID.
- Provide a valid credit card in the rider’s name for security deposit purposes.
- Be physically fit and competent to safely operate the rented motorcycle.
International riders must hold a valid international driving permit (IDP) where legally required.
Security Deposit and Insurance Excess
A refundable security deposit or pre-authorisation will be required prior to rental. This amount may vary depending on motorcycle model, rental duration, and insurance requirements.
The renter is liable for:
- Insurance excess in the event of damage, accident, theft, or loss.
- Any costs not covered by insurance, including negligence, misuse, or reckless riding.
The deposit will be released after safe return of the motorcycle and equipment, subject to inspection.
Insurance Cover
Motorcycles are insured subject to standard policy terms, including excess and exclusions.
Insurance does not cover:
- Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Reckless, negligent, or illegal riding.
- Participation in races, speed trials, or competitions.
- Damage caused by improper use or failure to follow guidelines.
The renter remains fully responsible for any uncovered damages or losses.
Use of Motorcycle
Rented motorcycles may only be used for legal recreational riding and touring purposes.
Prohibited use includes:
- Racing or competition.
- Off-limits trails or prohibited areas.
- Carrying unauthorised passengers.
- Commercial use without prior written consent.
The motorcycle must not be sub-rented or used by anyone other than the contracted renter unless explicitly approved.
Riding Gear and Accessories
All rented riding gear and accessories must be returned in good condition, subject to fair wear and tear.
The renter is liable for:
- Loss, theft, or damage to any gear or accessories.
- Repair or replacement costs if items are returned damaged, excessively worn, or incomplete.
Breakdown and Mechanical Issues
In the event of mechanical failure:
- The renter must immediately inform The Adventure Co.
- No repairs may be carried out without prior approval.
Assistance will be arranged as reasonably as possible.
Damage resulting from misuse, negligence, or improper operation remains the renter’s responsibility.
Damage, Loss and Theft
The renter accepts full responsibility for any loss, damage, or theft of motorcycles, riding gear, or accessories during the rental period.
Any accident, damage, or theft must be reported immediately to The Adventure Co. and the relevant authorities, where applicable.
Late Returns
Late returns may result in additional charges calculated at the standard daily rental rate or part thereof.
Indemnity and Liability
The renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless The Adventure Co. (Pty) Ltd, its employees, partners, and suppliers against any claims, losses, damages, injuries, or liabilities arising from use of the rented equipment.
All renters are required to complete and sign the relevant indemnity and medical declaration forms prior to rental.
Where motorcycles, riding gear, or accessories are supplied by our third-party rental partners, the rental agreement entered into directly between the renter and the rental partner shall supersede and take precedence over any terms and conditions stated herein.
Cancellation Policy (Rental Bookings)
- Cancellations made more than 14 days prior to rental: 90% refund (minus transaction and admin fees).
- 7–13 days prior: 50% refund.
Less than 7 days prior: No refund.
Changes to Terms
The Adventure Co. (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to update these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
